The 2013 Final Results

Here are the current standings in the three championships that are operated here at Blog HQ as everyone involved and some that aren't, competed to join the growing list of blog champions as the series now enters it's third season. In 2011 Button claimed the very first bonus points championship, and in 2012 Massa stole the title from Raikkonen in the final race in Brazil and the competition is open for the 2013 campaign.

The Bonus Points Championship

This is the figurehead championship drivers, teams and roughly everything else in between is competing for, in 2012, 66 entries made it into the championship compared with the 61 in the inaugural season making it a highly contested series.

The Penalty Points Championship

The stewards and officials have the power to hand out all manner of penalties and fines but the monolithic rule book does not exactly cover everything - things like issuing questionable team orders, or not taking part in Q3 are technically legal. But here at Blog HQ we do not approve of such behaviour among a vast array of arbitrary offences - Ryan Hunter Reay the 2012 indycar champion got a penalty point last season for spinning Takuma Sato in Long Beach - so no one is truly safe from such matters. Points can be given for actual offences or for generally being annoying.

The Penalties Table

The final championship is a little less arbitrary, although given some of the decisions that have been made over the past few seasons, that is arguable at times. Here we document the penalties that have been issued for driving infringements, ignoring the raft of daft technical penalties that are inevitable over the course of the year - grid drops for gearbox and engine changes are not to be stored here. Instead focussing on drivers hitting each other and generally misbehaving and the penalties for such things.
